I started on Linux around 1993 or so. I hated it! Went right back to Windows 3.1. It was a few years when I returned. I have been working with it
religously since 1997. Started as a testing developer after college and
worked my way into system administration by setting up Linux boxen everywhere
I went...starting with NASA. Now I am a system administrator for the US Coast Guard Operation Systems Center in Martinsburg, WV.
I also love hiking, camping, guitar, and speleology!

I've been using Linux since early 99. I started with
computers over 25
years ago on good old Radio Shack stuff as a kid. Electronics has always
been my motivation since I was 10. My training started with vocational
electronics in high school. Then I was an Aviation Electronics Tech in the
Navy working on A7 Corsairs I-level maintenance. My current job is installing
and maintaining financial institution equipment such as ATMs, security,
drive-thru and physical security systems. My specialties are ATM network
and digital video equipment. With Linux I've found a new challenge
that also helps me in my regular work.
My other hobbies are canoeing, camping, fishing and fixing stuff.

I've been involved with computers for about 15 years. I've run everything from a CoCo 2 to OS/2.
I first started with Linux in 1998 with Red Hat v5. I then bought a copy of
SuSE and have stayed with that distro ever since. I use both Linux and WinDoZe,
but I prefer Linux with the KDE Desktop. It's been a rough road sometimes
learning Linux, but it's stability and usability are awesome. I have very
little knowledge of networking, but I am learning everyday. I've been
involved with this LUG off and on since 2000, and will hopefully be able to
spend more time with it from now on.
